Moomin themed dishes – do you know their estimated prices?

“If we don’t go for a picnic this very instant, anything might happen to us!”

– Moominmamma

Moomin dish set

Arabia, Moomin children’s dish set (1990-1994). This set sold at Auction House Helander September 29th 2016, hammer price: 113 euros. Up to date estimated price for the set: 280 euros.

The adorable Moomin dish sets

Moomin themed children’s dish sets have been manufactured at a lesser volume than the highly popular Moomin mugs throughout the decades. However, they have found their way into collectors’ hearts. Since the 1950s both morning and evening porridges have been enjoyed using wonderful Moomin dishware and the tradition continues from one generation to the next due to high popularity among all ages.

Moomin themed children’s dishware is highly sought after among collectors as well as morning porridge eaters as are many other Moomin products, fetching up to three digit prices. At Auction House Helander the hammer prices for Moomin dish sets reach new heights from one year to the next.

For the love of Moomins

Both new and older Moomin themed children’s dish sets are especially popular as christening gifts and as presents for children on their first birthday – they’ve been given as graduation gifts too!

Moomin dish set

We’ve listed Moomin themed dish sets including information and up to date estimated prices. As with Moomin mugs, the prices of children’s dishware are affected by condition, possible color variations, luster and the presence of original packaging.

With older dish sets a requirement for a good price is often the entirety of the set i. e. a mug and a plate, sometimes also a spoon. In this case the dished can be sold as a set, fetching a higher price.

“I have a plate but no mug!”

Not to worry!

At Auction House Helander we’ve sold for example a 1950’s children’s mug without a plate with the hammer price climbing up to hundreds of euros. So if you have just a plate, spoon or mug or other odd dishes, don’t throw them away! They might be your map to happy Moomin Valley.

The following is a comprehensive list of Moomin dishes based on their actualised medium prices at Auction House Helander. Moomin dishes that are still sold in stores are not listed. The prices are hammer prices with added buyer’s expenses of + 22,32 %% and a hammer fee of 7 euros.

Whether it is Moomin-themed tableware, Moomin mugs, Moomin figurines or spoons, the Moomins are here to stay. Therefore hesitating when to buy or to sell is not necessary – although there are occasional small rises and drops in the prices. You can use Moomin products to seek profit, but for most, collecting is a pure hobby.

Auction Helander’s price estimates help you to get an idea of the true value of the dishes. When the valuation is based on actual selling prices, the views of both seller and buyer are realistic and sale is made between satisfied trading partners.
